Daylight

Many people worldwide have a structural shortage of daylight. We live in a society where we spend most of our time inside. Most of us work many hours indoor behind computers, tablets and television screens and when we get home from a day of work we mostly spend our time again inside. A lot of people only see the sky when they walk from their houses to their cars.

Daylight regulates our biological clock by activating the cortisol production in the brains and converting it into glucose for energy during the day. Daylight triggers the production of melatonin (a substance that induces sleep at night). Daylight exposure is linked to serotonin a substance that influences our memory, mood, sleep, emotions and appetite.

The benefits of daylight:

  • Improves the quality of sleep
  • Improves the immune system
  • Improves efficiency
  • Improves concentration
  • Increases energy
  • Improves overall health and well-being

Personal daylight co ach

The HelioS smart ring includes a daylight coach that tracks the amount of daylight you receive every day. The daylight coach motivates you to go outside and reach the minimum amount of daylight every day!

Just by talking a walk during lunch hours or after work you can increase your daylight consumption and improve your life.

You can see your relation with daylight per day, week, month and year! You can see how many days you reached the minimum amount of daylight and how many days you lack the minimum amount of daylight.

This way you have a clear overview in your relation with daylight. In the example on the left, you can see that the user has 5 days of sufficient daylight in a week and 2 days where the user didn't reach enough daylight.
